Nobulali Kama is a God-fearing woman, devoted mother, and award-winning storyteller whose creative journey began in 2016 at AFDA, where she discovered her passion for storytelling. After graduation, she revitalised her company, Coffee Stain Productions, to pursue her dream of producing.
In 2021, Nobulali produced her first short film, Umendo, which earned international recognition winning Best Short Film in several festivals. Building on that success, she produced more than five additional shorts, including collaborations with esteemed filmmakers like Zola Maseko.
In 2023, her short film Entabeni received funding from the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and the Gauteng Film Commission. It premiered at the Johannesburg Film Festival and won prestigious honours at the 12th Simon Mabhunu Sabela Awards, taking home both Best Short Film and Best Micro-Budget Film awards.
Nobulali is now developing her debut feature film, Ekhaya, backed by the NFVF and selected as a DFM Access 2026 project. Grounded in her rural upbringing, her creative focus is intentional, she crafts stories centred on women and children that aim to heal, foster inclusion, and entertain.
Rooted in faith and driven by purpose, Nobulali draws on her rural background to bring authentic stories to life. Her portfolio emphasizes stories that uplift women and children, using filmmaking as a tool for transformation, belonging, and inspiration.
