On 4 September 2025, AFDA donated film equipment to the value of R109,408.12 to the non-profit academy, Bridges for Music, based in Langa, Cape Town. The donation supports the work Bridges for Music has achieved over the last twelve or so years. They provide short learning programs to enhance the creative potential of young people at-risk and facilitate their access to income-generating opportunities. The education provides skills related to the music industry, along with psychosocial and entrepreneurial skills to assist the learners to thrive in the creative industries.
AFDA provides industry-standard and high-quality technology for its students to use in their journey into the film industry. Moving the equipment we no longer use to Bridges for Music links both institutions in the goal of nation-building in the context of the Creative Economies.
