AFDA alumnus Norman Maake’s film Inkabi, which he produced, scripted, and directed, has received six nominations at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). The nominations include Best Movie, Best Director, Best Cinematographer (Chuanne Blofield AFDA alumnus), Best Sound Design, Best Music Score, and Best Editor (Tongai Furusa AFDA alumnus).
“I am so proud of this little big film. A big thank you to all the incredible collaborators who made it happen. Thank you for the love and support. Now let’s bring it home!” said Norman in an Instagram post.
Speaking on this year’s nominees, Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa at MultiChoice, said, “Seeing this year’s nominees is truly inspiring. Inkabi has received notable recognition in the film industry. It won the Best African Film award at the Barcelona Indie Awards 2025 and, in 2024, garnered multiple nominations at the Simon Mabhunu Sabela KwaZulu-Natal Film and Television Awards. Inkabi is also available to watch on Netflix.
The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards ceremony, organized by Africa Magic in partnership with MultiChoice, will be broadcast live on 10 May 2025 across all Africa Magic channels on DStv.
