Tebogo Motaung, MBA: Award-Winning Educational Leader, Entrepreneur & Advocate for Youth Empowerment Tebogo Motaung is a visionary and results-oriented Sowetan-born leader with over 15 years of extensive experience in higher education, encompassing educational management, program development, and strategic leadership. She is passionately dedicated to youth and women’s empowerment and driving impactful change within academia, recognized as the Awardwinning Innovation Business Leader of the Year in 2024 by CEO Monthly.
Prior to joining AFDA, Tebogo dedicated over twelve years to the University of Johannesburg (UJ). There, she held significant responsibility for the student lifecycle and academic progress, supporting students from undergraduate to postgraduate degrees. Recognizing the importance of strategic leadership and a comprehensive understanding of business principles, especially in tertiary education, she further pursued and obtained her MBA from the Johannesburg Business School (UJ). This advanced degree has equipped her with the necessary insights, frameworks, and skills to effectively lead and foster innovation and entrepreneurship within a Business School context.
As the Head of School at AFDA BCom JHB Campus for the Business and Innovation Degree, Tebogo has been instrumental in fostering innovative educational environments alongside her academic team. She aligns operational goals with institutional strategies to ensure student success. In this role, she also manages lecturing staff, serves as a Lecturer, Honours research supervisor, and Business Studies Assessor and Advisor. Her deep academic foundation includes not only her Master of Business Administration (MBA) but also an Honours in Public Management and Governance, a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communication, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Law. She further holds a Business Analysis and Project Management Certification.
Tebogo excels in budget management, facility enhancement, and cultivating cross-functional collaboration, consistently achieving organizational excellence. Her proven track record demonstrates deep expertise in policy analysis, curriculum development, and advancing education and youth employability strategies through innovative program execution.
Beyond her impactful work in education, Tebogo is also the Founder and CEO of Tebbie M Creations, a women’s fashion empowerment brand established in 2017. Her entrepreneurial journey as an autodidact fashion designer has been deeply personal and purposeful. Her passion for entrepreneurship was ignited early on, leading her to establish and operate Tebbie M Creations since 2017. This practical experience has been invaluable and complements her extensive academic and professional trajectory. Business highlights include collaborations with international clients and local fashion designers, features on CNN Inside Africa, and various article features.
Tebogo’s core focus is on delivering exceptional student service while promoting operational efficiency, staff empowerment, and financial performance. Above all, she champions the advancement of young people in academia and the creative economy, actively shaping the next generation of young leaders and creatives, further empowering them through both education and personal expression.
