It gives AFDA great pleasure to announce the launch of AFDA honours Live Performance alumna Jamie-Lee Sexton’s new album, “Medicine Woman”. After two consecutive commercial radio hits with the songs ‘It’s True’ and ‘We Need To Talk’ Jamie-Lee will be performing the full album, which also includes her third single ‘Medicine Woman’ on  Saturday 12 March at Snatch 32 in Parktown, Johannesburg.

“Medicine Woman’ encapsulates the true essence of my journey that has culminated into this EP. Every song is a part of my life. Part of the hard times, dark times and ends with me ultimately finding the light. It’s hasn’t been easy, but it’s very necessary to speak my truth and share it with the world. I have taken my time with this work to fully understand what it is I want to be saying in my music. That message for me is: I see you, I am you. Let’s walk together.” says Jamie-Lee

Jamie-Lee is a self-taught guitarist and pianist from her adolescence. She pursued a career in music and drama at AFDA Johannesburg and completed her studies with an Honours degree in Live Performance in 2010.

With Music encased in every beat of Jamie-Lee’s body, she entered Idols in 2010 and made it to the prestigious Top 8.

In 2014, Jamie-Lee founded The Sextons, and after a magical musical journey with the band, she made the decision to rebrand herself as a solo artist.
