Netflix recently dropped the official trailer of the much anticipated new South African series ‘Unseen’. The crime thriller series has a host of AFDA alumni in key roles, both in front of and behind the scenes.

Behind the scenes we find the creators of ‘Unseen’, AFDA alumni Travis Taute and Daryne Joshua. Travis also picks up the directing credit for the series and fellow alumni Tristram Atkins is part of the powerhouse writing team which includes Meesha Aboo, and Sean Drummond.

‘Unseen’ narrates the story of a nondescript domestic worker Zenzi Mwale, played by Gail Mabalane, who goes in search of her missing husband and comes up against powerful and violent criminals. Her reaction to the immense and immediate danger she faces is not as timid as she seems.

On screen Gail Mabalane stars alongside AFDA live performance alumni Vuyo Dabula, Shimmy Isaacs, Shamilla Ismail Miller and Clifford Young and AFDA Cape Town live performance lecturer Abduragman Adams.

The six- part series is produced by Gambit Films (known for producing the globally successful Netflix series ‘Blood & Water’) was co-founded by AFDA alumni Nosipho Dumisa-Ngoasheng, Daryne Joshua, Travis Taute and Simon Beesley. ‘Unseen’ can be streamed on Netflix from March 29, 2023.
