Over the past 29 years AFDA has earned its reputation as the top institution of its kind in Africa, and the key to this success is the experienced, dedicated and talented staff body.

AFDA boasts over 270 full-time academic, admin and support staff and recruits over 200 industry professionals as visiting lecturers on its Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha campuses. Each AFDA staff member plays a vital role in creating an environment where students can thrive.

Meet AFDA Cape Town Live Performance lecturer Abduragman Adams

Abduragman Adams is a well- known South African television, film and theatre actor, director scriptwriter and educator.

Abdu has starred in ‘Suidooster’ in over 560 episodes since 2015. He has appeared in several other television shows including “7de Laan”, ‘Heartlines’, ‘Known Gods’, ‘Rugby Motors’ and ‘Die Boland Moorde’.

His most recent screen acting roles include starring in the new hit drama series ‘Unseen’, in the feature film ‘Indemnity’, ‘The Umbrella Men’ and ‘Barakat’. He also acted in two episodes of the Netflix series ‘Blood and Water’.

Naledi Bogacwi is the co-founder of Trial By Media Films and known for producing and writing the multi-award winning films “Surviving Gaza” and “Letters of “Hope”.

Meet AFDA Cape Town Senior Lecturer of Sound Design Nick Matthews

Nick Mathews is a creative, dynamic music producer, performing artist, sound designer DJ, and screenwriter with a passion for contemporary South African electronic music. His research is based in the field of ethnomusicology and the roots of folk music in South Africa. Works include DJ InviZAble, Gazelle, Iridium Project, CODA

Meet AFDA Cape Town Screen Acting Lecturer Gerard Rudolf

Gérard Rudolf is a South African writer, poet, actor and photographer who has had leading and supporting roles in numerous television series including Arende II and III, Glaskasteel, Woestynblom, The Game, Sinbad, Transito, Binnelanders and Donkerland.. His most recent role is on the new MNet series Devil’s Peak, based on a novel by Deon Meyer which will premiere on MNet on the 29 October.

He has also had leading and supporting roles in such films like Paljas, The Young Black Stallion (Disney), The Piano Player (USA), Styx (USA), Husk (Channel 4, M-Net) and Adrenaline (Netherlands).

Meet AFDA Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship Programme Co-Ordinator Tebogo Motaung

Tebogo Motaung is an experienced higher education professional with vast history of working as a student advisory officer, curriculum counsellor and manager who is skilled in Operational Planning, Administration, Corporate Communications, Fashion Design, and Motivational Speaking.

Outside her role at AFDA, Tebogo, is the founder of tebbie M creations, a fashion company that specialises in unique, customised designs. With her passion for fashion an ability to combine her creative talents with her entrepreneurial skills she has built a successful business.

Meet AFDA Johannesburg Production Course lecturer Kamogelo Matsoso

Kamogelo is young musician, arts facilitator and creative entrepreneur who strongly believes in empowering new talent so they could find their way in the music world. Apart from being a mesmerising performer of her own music, Kamo, through her creative business, Sounds of Kamo, teaches music to young and older people keen to express themselves through sound. She helps them find their voice and direction, and her music workshops take place around Gauteng. For example, in Tembisa on the East Rand, she has worked with the Moses Molelekwa Foundation, alongside Joy of Jazz to shine a spotlight on the amazing talent in the area.

She recently won the first ever Sunday World Unsung Heroes Award in the category of Heroes in Sport, Arts & Culture.
