Valencia Joshua is an award-winning producer, writer, and director with over 14 years of experience in film, television, and multimedia.
Her acclaimed short film Himmat premiered at the Durban International Film Festival and spotlighted South African Indian narratives. Valencia’s script The Platform earned Best Screenplay at TIFF’s Creative Minds competition. She has directed large-scale live shows and produced over 20 creative works across film, TV, music videos, and commercials.
In 2018, she founded The Dream Lab Productions, championing powerful, local stories and uplifting female and under-represented filmmakers. Notable works include Before 8am, a BET and KZNFilm project that received three Simon Sabela Award nominations.
Valencia also leads Black City Records, with her music video Radio topping East Coast Radio’s charts. Recognized globally, she has been selected for top film labs and secured major funding from industry bodies, including the National Film and Video Foundation.
In 2025, she launched an animation storytelling initiative in collaboration with KZN Film and Tourism.
