Earlier this year, the famous Kenyan content creator Kennedy Odhiambo, alias Crazy Kennar who holds a degree in Actuarial Science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya enrolled at AFDA Johannesburg to study a BA in Creative Writing to hone his skills as a content creator.

Crazy Kennar has a whopping 633K followers on You Tube, 1.4M on TikTok, 1.4M on Instagram, 1.1M on Facebook and 360K on X.

He has won multiple awards as Kenya’s Comedy Influencer of the Year. In 2022, he achieved another milestone when he got invited to London’s Meta Creator to represent Kenyans.

When asked why he decided to study the Creative Writing degree programme at AFDA Crazy Kennar had this to say: “I create short, funny skits on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. My mission is to stand against depression, and my vision is to make the world a happier place, one piece of content at a time. I have been involved in content creation for seven years. It started as a hobby and later became my career. I established a small company to manage its daily operations.

After years of experience, I developed a great interest in learning more about the film industry. This led me to apply to AFDA, the most prestigious film school in Africa, after it was recommended. Despite possessing many talents, including acting and directing, I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing because I believe writing is at the heart of everything.

With the knowledge and broadened experience I will gain from this acclaimed institution. In partnership with it, we will use it to transform short comedy video content into a sustainable genre in filmmaking. This will help me achieve my most incredible dream of winning the Oscar award and attracting more creative talent to this institution and the game. And when the sun goes down, the world will be a happier place. I believe in myself, my abilities, and my determination. That’s what keeps me moving every single day.”
