AFDA is proud to celebrate the achievements of its alumni, Shekhinah and Neo Dube, who have been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Metro FM Music Awards. Shekhinah has earned a nomination in the Best R&B Song category for her soulful track Risk, featuring Moliy, while rising star Neo Dube, is in the running for Best New Artist with her debut single Indawenhle.
In an interview with the Daily Sun, Neo expressed her excitement and gratitude, saying, “I’m happy to get this recognition for my first single because it means I’m being recognised. When you start something, you hope it will get recognised and that it will be well-received. To see people receive me well, to a point where I’m getting recognition at the Metro FM Music Awards, means a lot. It says it is not offensive to dream as a child from Umlazi.”
The 2025 Metro FM Music Awards will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. This year’s theme, “Crowning Greatness,” highlights the celebration of excellence in the South African music industry. The event will be broadcast live on SABC1, and is hosted by the Mpumalanga Provincial Government with sponsorship from the Motsepe Foundation, which will award R50,000 in cash to each category winner.
Congratulates to Shekhinah and Neo on their well-deserved nominations, AFDA look forward to seeing you shine on one of the country’s biggest music stages.
