Dr Ogundaini Oluwamayowa Oaikhena is a Senior Lecturer in User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) within the BCom programme at AFDA Cape Town’s School of Business Innovation and Technology. A PhD graduate in Informatics from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and an NRF-rated researcher, Dr Ogundaini brings over a decade of academic and practical experience in information technology, research, and postgraduate supervision.
Currently serving as the Learning Circle Coordinator for first-year students, Dr Ogundaini is passionate about empowering students to transform theoretical knowledge into practical innovation. “With every lesson I teach in the AFDA BCOM, I intentionally ensure that the purpose of theory is to serve as a bridge that empowers students to develop practical skills and research real-world insight towards results-oriented outcomes. The results are what fuels my motivation and commitment to the profession,” he shares.
His teaching equips students with tools such as Excel, Figma, MySQL, and JOOMLA CMS to develop and refine Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), applying UX research to create intuitive digital solutions for business innovation.
Dr Ogundaini’s research interests span Digital Health, Educational Technologies (EdTech), User Experience Design, and the application of emerging technologies such as Big Data Analytics and Industry 4.0 tools to drive digital transformation in sub-Saharan Africa. His academic contributions include nearly 30 scholarly publications and over 100 citations.
His expertise also extends to qualitative data analysis, project management, prototyping, workshop facilitation, research supervision, and entry-level data administration, skills he actively applies in both teaching and mentorship.
With a strong commitment to social impact and sustainable development, Dr Ogundaini’s work continues to bridge the gap between academia and real-world technological innovation.
