AFDA Bursary Application – Terms & Conditions

 
1.Eligibility

1.1 The bursary is open to all potential students intending to enrol in an AFDA qualification.
1.2 The applicant must:

  • Have attended the AFDA Hatfield Campus Open Day on [Insert Date: September 2025].
  • Meet the entry requirements for the AFDA qualification for which they intend to enrol.
  • If not a South African citizen, secure and maintain a valid Study Visa in accordance with South African immigration law.
  • Be available to commence studies at the AFDA campus at the start of the 2026 academic year.
    1.3 Applicants under the age of 18 must have the application signed by a parent or legal guardian.

2.Selection Criteria

The AFDA Selection Committee will assess applications based on:

  • Demonstrated motivation.
  • Demonstrated passion and creativity.
  • Demonstrated financial need.

The Committee’s decision in making the award is final and binding.

3.Conditions of the Bursary

3.1 The bursary may not be deferred or rolled over to another year.
3.2 The bursary covers only the portion of tuition fees specified in the award letter. The applicant accepts full responsibility for:

  • Any remaining tuition fees.
  • All other costs of study at AFDA, including but not limited to accommodation, transport, equipment, and food.
    3.3 The bursary is awarded on condition that the applicant registers and remains enrolled at AFDA in 2026.
    3.4 Should the applicant fail to register, withdraw, or not be present at the start of the academic year, the bursary will be forfeited.
    3.5 AFDA reserves the right to withdraw the bursary in cases of serious academic underperformance, misconduct, or breach of AFDA’s Code of Conduct, provided that due process is followed.

4.Publicity & Representation

4.1 The applicant agrees to participate in reasonable publicity activities related to the bursary, including interviews, photography, and promotional events.
4.2 The applicant agrees to act as a positive ambassador for AFDA, upholding AFDA’s reputation and brand image

5.Duration of Award

The bursary is awarded for the 2026 academic year only. Any continuation of funding beyond 2026 will be at AFDA’s sole discretion and subject to academic performance and qualification pursued.

6.Data Protection (POPIA Compliance)

6.1 The applicant consents to AFDA processing their personal information, including ID/passport number, financial details, and contact information, for the purpose of evaluating the application, administering the bursary, and complying with legal obligations.
6.2 AFDA will take reasonable steps to protect all personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

7.Limitation of Liability

AFDA shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or expense incurred by the applicant as a result of:

  • The bursary being forfeited due to non-compliance with these terms; or
  • Costs beyond the bursary amount awarded.

8.Acceptance

By signing this application form, the applicant (and parent/guardian if under 18) confirms that:

  • They have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
  • All information supplied is true and correct to the best of their knowledge.
