AFDA is proud to celebrate the international festival selection of From Vision to Screen, a documentary produced as part of AFDA alumna Nonhlanhla Mnisi’s Master of Fine Arts journey.
The research-driven documentary explores the experiences of emerging filmmakers in South Africa and Zambia, examining the creative ecosystems and opportunities that shape African storytelling.
From Vision to Screen has been selected for Official Competition at the 8th edition of the Festival international du film et de l’art africains et caribéens “L’Afrique fait son cinéma”, taking place from 5–14 November 2026. The film will compete for the festival’s Ubuntu d’Or for Best Documentary.
The selection places an AFDA postgraduate research project on an international platform dedicated to African and Caribbean cinema, highlighting the power of documentary filmmaking to explore, question and amplify stories from the continent.
AFDA congratulates Nonhlanhla Mnisi on this significant achievement and celebrates the continued impact of its postgraduate filmmakers and researchers on the global creative landscape.
