Who are we without anything? This film is an exploration into the consumer, and a culture that has pushed people to want to have more, and better things. We want to uncover the effect that this consumption culture has on people. We want audiences to walk away with self-directed questions that go beyond blaming the government and advertising companies for the state of the world. We are all to be held accountable for how things are. Our minds can only be brainwashed if we decide to remain passive. Advertising is effective because it attacks our humanity and value systems. If we can find fulfilment outside of the consumer market, we can begin to change the way we consume. The film is an investigation into the minds of the consumer. Through two interlocking narratives we follow Gloria and Morgan and how their lives are affected by consumption. Gloria an obsessive hoarder gets trapped by her own possessions while Morgan is trapped by a society constantly pushing him to buy, have and be. Both must free themselves in order to find purpose.
