AFDA students from our Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth campuses have proved that in life, nothing is impossible to achieve when you have enthusiasm, optimism, confidence, and commitment. The AFDA Online Experimental Festival 2020 kicked-off on the 21st of August and has already received over a 17 000 views from spectators in 83 countries around the world.  It is remarkable sign of our times that 11 502 of the views recorded were from phone devices.

Also, to give more perspective, the total time spent online by viewers watching the AFDA experimental productions over the first four days of the festival adds up to 49 days and 11 hours. You have got to love those stats.

“I urge you to support our young filmmakers and performers as their hard work and dedication to their craft is captured and now being exhibited as part of the Online Experimental Festival. You will not be disappointed! I am so proud of each and every one of them.” says AFDA Port Elizabeth Dean, Michael Ivy.

The Experimental Festival is a unique opportunity for third year students to discover and express their artistic intent as well as experiment with film, theatre, music and television craft techniques.

You can watch the productions from our Film School, Television School and Live Performance School students up until the 29th of August here:
