The 14th annual South African Film and Television Awards nominees were announced at the Mall of Africa on Friday 14 February with AFDA alumni nominated across the board in a majority of the 70 categories, for their expertise in their crafts behind and on scene.

In the Feature Film category, “Fiela se Kind”, produced by alumnus Danie Bester, took the lead clinching 11 nominations.  Alumni Brett Michael Innes picked up nominations for Best Achievement in Directing and Scriptwriting, Tom Marais for Best Achievement in Cinematography and C.A. van Aswegan for Best Achievement in Editing. “Fiela se Kind” also received the Best Feature Film nomination.

Alumnus Benjamin Willem picks up yet another SAFTA nomination for Best Achievement in Original Music/Score for the film “3 Days To Go”

In the television category alumna Xolile Tshabalala received the Best Supporing Actress – TV Soap nomination for her role as Senamile Maseko on “Muvhango”.

Marche Media Group celebrates 21 nominations with its creative talent & partners, Black Brain received a host of nominations, especially for the TV drama Lockdown and TIA Productions and Gambit Films also received numerous nominations.

The NFVF joined forces with 205 industry experts from across the country to form a judging committee that spent over two months deliberating and rounding off the final nominees of the 70 categories, which were all then later audited by Nexia SAB&T.

The 14th annual SAFTAs take place on 27 and 28 March 2020 at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Congratulations to all the AFDA alumni nominees and other nominees.
