“It’s an honour for me and for the festival to honour Richard with the Special Recognition Award for his tireless work and dedication to development in the film industry - both as a practitioner (producing and line-producing credits) as well as his development work both in South Africa and the rest of the continent through his work with the M-Net New Directions Initiative and at AFDA Durban,” says Selane.

Richard Green is one of this country’s most experienced producers with over forty years of experience in the film industry behind him. His current film TOKOLOSHE-THE CALLING, which he directed, has just been picked up by American distributors “Together Magic Film Group” and is scheduled for a 2020 release. The movie is currently at the American Film Market. The film will be renamed TOKOLOSHE AN AFRICAN CURSE for international audiences. Watch the trailer here:

“It goes without saying that some of today’s most established talents such as Zola Maseko, Dumisani Phakathi , Teddy Matera, Ntshavheni wa Luruli,  to name but a few, were mentored by Richard,” continues Selane. “My own personal development in this industry was hugely impacted by Richard, and I learned a huge deal working with him on New Directions and how available he’s continued to be for me and I’m sure many others in the industry.”
