Are you considering a career as an actor in film and television? Do you want to get a better understanding and feel about the ins and outs of screen acting? Then join us for a FREE Screen Acting Workshop at AFDA Durban, 26th September, 12:30pm to 4:00pm.

“I am really looking forward to hosting the Screen Acting Workshop. On the day the School of Live Performance will host a panel of young actors from the Film and Television industry. The panel will bring a wealth of information and knowledge about KZN based soaps like UZALO and IMBEWU as well as different independent film producers. Mishka Gounden (IMBEWU), Sibongiseni Shezi (UZALO) and Kimara Govender (ACTOR & PRODUCER) are all AFDA Durban alumni and are making their mark in the industry. Hear about their journey, their challenges and their successes.

After the panel discussion we will continue with an interactive screen acting workshop. As screen acting is different from stage acting the training is also quite different. Find out if your face is revealing what you feel. Understand how reaction shots can help you to build a character with an appealing performance.  On a set with camera’s and lights you can experience what acting for screen means. After the workshop you can take a consultation with one of our lecturers to inform you more about the 3 year Screen acting course in Durban. If you consider a career as a screen actor in the industry, inform yourself well! The 26th. Is an opportunity to do that!” says Sir Roel Twijnstra, AFDA Durban Head of Live Performance School.

Sir Roel Twijnstra has recently been awarded the Stadio Multiversity Chairman of the Board’s Award for Scholarship in Teaching and Learning at the Stadio Multiversity Awards 2019. In August 2019 Roel published the book “Acting in South Africa. Skills and inspirations”, his third book about the creative economy in South Africa.

Looking forward to see you there!
