The film "Inxeba" (The Wound), produced by AFDA Alumni Elias Ribeiro and Cait Pansegrouw, which has been nominated for 8 Golden Horn Awards at the SAFTA's 2018, including Best Feature Film, has made headlines in South Africa and around the world after the Film and Publication Board (FPB) re-classified “Inxeba” as X18. This in a nutshell means that the film is classified as pornography. The film has been removed from the South African film circuit after a successful opening weekend, having the 6th highest box office sales, even though half of the screenings were cancelled due to protests. The film is the first South African film to be screened on Netflix and was also a finalist in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars 2018.
